Mission Statement of FAAO

Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Nine (1989) was not exactly an eventful year, except that this year a group of young intellectually inspired and capable individuals conceived the idea to form the organization.  Some were new in Oklahoma and some have been around for sometime. 

The Motivating factor was not to urge to lead or rule, not even the desire to commit.  The group envisioned an organization capable of making everyone welcome and feel accepted.  It would teach the second generation of Filipino-Americans, our children, their heritage, promote goodwill and showcase Philippine customs and traditions to mainstream American society.

The Mission of the Filipino American Association of Oklahoma (FAAO) is to nurture a sense of camaraderie and unity among Filipino-American through social events, cultural activities and humanitarian projects.
